Military Saves Week and Financial Planning Worksheet Challenge

An effort to encourage service members to take a critical look at their finances, with a goal towards identifying wasteful spending and turning it into savings or debt reduction opportunities. The Commanding Officer (Capt. Paul Haebler) of NWSY has challenged his command and all tenant commands to encourage all of their Sailors/Marines to have a Financial Planning Worksheet completed. The Commands will compete to see which can get the highest percentage of service members to see either a Command Financial Specialist or a FFSC Financial Educator and complete a FPW. The command that completes the most FPW’s (% of command) from February 1 thru March 15 will be declared the winner and received an award.

My journey began five years ago after marrying my wife, Lisa. We entered our marriage with no savings plan in sight, carrying debt and living in a tiny apartment.
