Financial Planning Days, a joint endeavor by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFPBoard)Financial Planning Association® (FPA®)Foundation for Financial Planning, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, is celebrating its fifth year.

Over the course of seven weeks, between September 27 and November 8, Financial Planning Days will be held in twenty five cities across the nation. The mission of this initiative is to bring free and ethical financial planning advice to the general public by means of one-on-one advising sessions and workshops. In these uncertain economic times, Financial Planning Days will provide Americans across the country with an opportunity to get the financial advice they need at no cost and with no strings attached. Business cards won’t be distributed, names will not be taken, and financial products and services will not be sold.

In partnership with local city governments, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals are gathering at designated schools, municipal buildings, and local libraries. Planners will meet privately with individuals and couples in one-on-one consultations to answer questions on budgeting, credit management, getting out of debt, taxes, homeownership, college financing, insurance, and so much more. Free classroom-style workshops covering these key areas of personal finance are also available.

To find your local event and participate, visit FinancialPlanningDays.org. Registration can be completed online or by calling toll-free 1-877-861-7826. Walk-ins are also welcome.

In honor of the fifth anniversary of Financial Planning Days, consumers have an opportunity to submit financial planning questions on social media using the hashtag #FinancialPlanningQs. CFP® professionals will address select questions in an October 15 blog post at FinancialPlanningDays.org. Connect with Financial Planning Days today: @FinPlanDays (Twitter) or FinancialPlanningDays (Facebook).

Airman Succeeds Through Dedication to Building Wealth Not Debt

Written by Super User | October 13, 2011

I came into the Air Force at 23 years old in 1993 with about 12 outstanding bills (hospital bills, car loan, car insurance, school loans, credit cards, etc.). You name it, I had the bill. Thanks to the Family Support Center, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, and many other sources, I now have no outstanding bills.
