11 FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, 17 ORGANIZATIONS AWARDED FOR ENCOURAGING MILITARY AND VETERAN COMMUNITY TO SAVE

(WASHINGTON, D.C) June 1, 2021 — Military Saves announced today that three banks and eight credit unions have been awarded the Military Saves Designation of Savings Excellence for their extraordinary efforts to motivate the military and veteran communities to save effectively in order to reduce debt and build wealth during Military Saves Month 2021. Now in its eighth year, the award is presented annually to financial institutions that succeed in getting people to open or add to wealth-building accounts.

Seventeen military installations/units and supporters were also recognized with the Military Saves Savings Champion award for their outstanding efforts in motivating their communities to achieve financial stability.

“Military Saves Month has helped service members and their families take action toward their saving plan by taking the Military Saves Pledge,” said Angela Caban, Military Saves Director. “We led the conversation on topics such as saving automatically, reducing debt, establishing an emergency fund, planning for retirement, and saving as a family. The installations, organizations, financial institutions, and supporters awarded went above and beyond to encourage and support the military community to save.”

Military Saves Month, held in April, is an annual opportunity for the entire military community to assess their savings status and make a plan to start or increase saving, and for organizations to support good saving behavior.
