Executive Director at the National Military Family Association

The National Military Family Association (www.militaryfamily.org) has been at the forefront of promoting financial literacy and education for military families. From our work on Capitol Hill to combat predatory lending practices to partnering with the Department of Defense Financial Readiness Campaign, we understand the importance of connecting military families with the proper resources. Our Association is a Military Saves founding partner and we are proud of this year’s theme: ‘Set a Goal. Make a Plan. Save Automatically.’ Today’s financial environment, not to mention the looming budget cuts, presents many challenges and uncertainties to military families. We believe that financial readiness is a critical component of family readiness and is intertwined with every phase of military life.

This is just one of the many reasons the National Military Family Association created a mobile application, MyMilitaryLife. It is the first app of its kind, created to serve as a central resource that helps military families navigate the challenges of military lifestyle when it comes to children, deployments, education, retirement, moving and more! It is currently available for free on iPhone and Android mobile devices.

MyMilitaryLife is comprised of ‘Life Paths’ to help you find tailored information specific to your situation. For example, if you are moving or having a baby – there is a life path for that! It provides resources for creating a budget before you PCS or to help you prep for that nine months before your bundle of joy arrives. Each life path has a financial education component and allows you to easily find resources that equip your family with the means to become financially stable. Our Association, along with Military Saves campaign wants you to increase your personal savings and pay down debt. MyMilitaryLife can help you reach your Military Saves goals!

This week after you take the Military Saves pledge at www.militarysaves.org, find tips on how to put your pledge into action by downloading the free MyMilitaryLife app.
